One of the most challenging 'programs' that we must overcome in order to attain self-mastery is to dismantle victim consciousness. ⁣ ⁣ The thing about it is that it is often more subtle and subversive than we can imagine. We have an idea of what it means to be a victim, but the way that this mental state works is far more destructive and sneaky. ⁣ ⁣ When we don't believe in ourselves, or expect the worst, or feel like giving up ... that's the victim. If we give those thoughts power with our emotions or feelings, we are losing strength. ⁣ ⁣ It's enough of a first step to catch it as it is happening and to notice when we 'go there' in our minds. Then, with conscious choice and awareness, we choose differently.
